  • twilight vs true blood(sookie stackhouse)?

    Category: QA

ok so people say bad things about twilight personally i love them both but people think that edward and bellas love is wronge because the ages and that fact hes a dead vampire…ok so how come peple never complain about bill nd sookie? sam applies there? or is it the fact that everyone just thinks true blood or sookie stackhouse books are better? It is almost the EXACT same thing! vampir loves human, vampire doesnt want to be a monster, shape shifters, bad vampires and good ones. There are alot of things in common with these two.

so tell me HOW people can say how bad twilight is when they like ture blood or the sookie stack house books?

Does that make bill a bigger petaphile? hes older then edward? sookie is older then bella does that make it better?

    {i think if people want to complain they should complain not only on twilight but on all vampire love stories then…}

Just an opinion..No arguments plz just opinions because it is a very good question~
its not that one is more realistic becuz neither can be REALISTIC there fistion vampire book almost the exact same book if u wanna get technical. Thankx
its not that one is more realistic becuz neither can be REALISTIC there fistion vampire book almost the exact same book if u wanna get technical. Thankx
ok it has nothing to do with adult book and teen book. There is sex in both books and referances to it. noth have killing! ect. twilight was made for young adult and 10 yr olds read it same and with sokkie books. has nothing to do with the age group it was made for! like i said both contain the same! sex, killing, adult referances ect. so now whats the excuse?
o nd btw bella is 18 in second book! makes her LEGALLY an adult! both sookie and bella adults.
ok another good point! twilight is made for teens and alot of younger people haveing vampires burst into flams and burn into char and stake through the heart is kind of outta perportion for a kid! so if u ask me makeing the vampires sparle ect is a better reading for a child then grusum death.
O AND JUST SO EVERY ONE GETS IT HOW CAN STEPHINE BE WRONGE ABOUT INTERPRITAION ON VAMPIRES WHEN THEY ARE NOT REAL THEY ARE FICTION! MYTHS AND FOLKLORE FOR 1600′S SO THER IS NO PROFF OR ANYTHING WRITTEN IN STONE THAT VAMPIRES CAN NOT BE LIKE TWILIGHT ONES. VAMPIRSE CAN BE WHAT EVER YOU WANT THEM TO BE THEY ARE NOT REAL ITS ALL TO IMAGINATION!

I think that Twilight is a lot more well known. Especailly with the movie out and the new book releases. Quite frankly I havent heard of your other series. It seems to me those who dont like Twilight shouldnt like that book. But I havent talked to many people who have read the intire Twilight book/series and have come close to anything near hating it. I mean I think its awsome!!!!! =)

That is a very good question! I didnt even realize that untill now! I NEVER do hear anybody complaining about the stackhouse books! Maybe its because Twilight is more popular, idk. Good question, though, VERY good question! I wish i would have thought of it!

Something can be the same but if its written better and more realistic it can be thought of better.

I agree completely. When I hear that excuse as an argument about why Twilight was so bad, I think the same thing. Personally, I think it’s got a lot more to do with the fact that the people who say this just didn’t like Twilight, which is fine. My complaint is that I have yet to read a story where a female vampire falls in love with a male human…. LOL.

I haven’t read sookie stackhouse but i can see where your coming from.I hate to break it to you but most of these vampire/supernatural romance thrillers have almost the exact same premise and subplots. Before twilight there was vampire diaries, many claim twilight’s premise is a rip-off of this old series. They have the same torturous plot-line of vampire romance and urges to kill their ‘human’ lover in thrist of their blood.its sad how the ya females buy into this on a constant basis.

    6. Katy on June 24th, 2010 8:18 pm

that is very true. i love true blood the most, though

i don’t think that people dis true blood because not that many people have read it. like almost everyone in the world has read twilight, but not that many for true blood. and not very many teens/kids get to read or watch the show because of the content in it..ha.
and some people don’t like they way bill is a vampire. like he has fangs and all the REAL vampire stuff (can’t go in the sunlight, sleeps in a coffin, etc…) but in twilight edward doesn’t have fangs, he doesn’t sleep at all, he sparkles in the sunlight..so he may seem less scary.

if people want to complain let them, because maybe they don’t like it? they have a right to say want they want to. i just say they should do it a little less more.

      hope this helped :]

      Your logic is very flawed.

First of all, you are making the mistake of comparing a young adult series with a 100% adult one. Adults read fiction and take it for what it is: fiction. They don’t go around trying to emulate the main characters or believing that vampires do exist. They don’t go around comparing males of their acquaintance to the hero in the books. On top of that, the hero in the Southern Vampires series is depicted as flawed. Can you say the same about Edward? It’s not a matter of being realistic. It’s a matter of the audience for each series.

You should learn the definition of pedophile. Bella is underage. THAT is what people refer to. If Bella was of age, even just one year older than the 17 she is in the first book, people wouldn’t have been able to use that as an argument. Why do you think the author made it a point to keep her a virgin until Breaking Dawn. By the time Bella married Edward she was “of age”. Sookie is in her mid 20s. She is a consenting adult from page 1, additionally, the author doesn’t have any hang ups about pre-marital sex which, obviously, Meyer does. Otherwise she wouldn’t have used that as a plot device (sex before marriage is a no-no sort of message).

Again, you shouldn’t be comparing series for adults, with series for young adults, even if the main themes are somewhat similar. Series for young adults need to follow certain rules that adult books are not subjected to, precisely because young adults and children are easily influenced by what they read … and that is why Twilight does get a lot of criticism on that department, criticism that you are not going to find in adult vampire series for the obvious reason that adults know the difference between fiction and reality, and are not supposed to be easily influenced by a fantasy.

twilight may be more popular to the younger crowd but true blood is way better a lot more action and because sookie stackhouse came out 4 years before twilight was published Bill is so much better then Edward its not even funny
      Edward sparkles
Bill burns in sunlight (which one is better i mean a vampire can’t be absolutely perfect they have to have disadvantages)
the point is Sookie is a grown women and knows the differnce between love and lust while bella doesn’t i mean why is she with edward they don’t love each other they lust for one another plus the love between them is wrong because bella is 17 and edward is over 100 while sookie is 25 she is smart enough to make good choices she is over the age of 18 which means she is an adult

don’t get pissey with me another reason why people don’t judge true blood is because it doesn’t have any plot holes unlike twilight who has lots like renesme wtf is that shit

    9. stardust on June 24th, 2010 9:58 pm

THANK YOU! SOMEONE THAT UNDERSTANDS. that is the same point i’m trying to figure out. twilight and true blood are almost the SAME!. FINALLY SOMEONE HAD THE NERVE TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT IT. any way i think that both of the Vampire stories are exactly the SAME.(TECHNICALLY)

    10. Angel on June 24th, 2010 9:59 pm

I dont understand why people are so hung up on someone being 17 and being in love. People who are 17 can think like adults. It should not matter the age of the person but what they do with their knowledge. Just because there is a difference in age between Bella and Sookie should not make a difference on whether they are with a vampire or not, when that vampire is so old. I personally love both series and I just enjoy a good read.

    11. Roro on June 24th, 2010 10:18 pm

Never read True Blood, but if Twilight and that are similar, why more criticism for Twilight? And for the know-it-all above, it doesn’t matter between young-adult and adult. It just means if it’s young-adult more people are likely to read and buy it to recommend them to their children. Come on which has more? Only adults or something for young-adults and adults to related to? It’s about relating to characters, sure no one can too much relate to the vampires….except it’s hard to find someone you love. But has for the other non-vampires in the books many people can relate to their situations young or old. For instance teens would most likely relate to Bella or even Jacob in some points except for being a werewolf except for the people who have the wolfman disease which means you’re really hairy. As for adults they’ve problably already experienced everything the teens are going through now in life or in the book, except for the werewolves and vampires. Plus people love to live in fantasy worlds. Read about or imagine about things they want but can’t truely have. For instance men or women desire thing they most likey can’t afford or can’t have. It’s life. Nobody likes to have a boring life, so they escape it throught novels such as Twilight or well True Blood. As for Harry Potter you can really experience any of that in real lilfe.

    12. I'm so Sad rite now on June 24th, 2010 11:09 pm

You are right about the fact that they do have you know the same type of characters
      twilight True Blood
      Bella Sookie
      Edward Bill
      Jacob Sam
but i think the story of true blood is a lot better its more interesting to read you don’t read sookie talking about how perfect bill is while in twilight you hear bella every page saying how perfect edward is it gets annoying
Sure Bill may be older then Edward but Sookie is 25 which makes her a full grown adult while bella is still in high school she is not smart enough to say that she loves edward she is to young and its like what her first relationship
Sookie has been out with other guys before
But the characters in true blood have depth to them i mean sookie is not a nag like bella is (omg bella is the worst main character ever)
But Charline did not ruin vampires like Stephenie did i can’t believe they made them sparkle like for what to hang edward up like a disco ball while your having a party
Bill risked his life for sookie he went out in the sunlight and nearly died i mean edward can’t do that because he sparkles
to me a a vampire has to burn in the sunlight, has to have fangs, and have to live with themselves knowing that they killed a humman to survive (thats why they got the true blood)

    13. kar on June 25th, 2010 12:04 am

i haven’t read sookie stackhouse but i watched the show as for twilight i read all of twilight except the last one couldn’t finish it it was so horrible
but anyway you get more in true blood in one episode then you do in the entire twilight book it is so boring and annoying she is always talking about how perfect edward is
even stephen king said that stephenie meyer can’t write and stephen is one of the most successful writers this world has seen in the 20th Century
