Question about True Blood season finale (spoiler warning)?
Category: QA
So I just got done watching the season finale, I was expecting more epic-ness…but I sure as hell am glad that Maryann story line is done.
I’ve been wondering about something ever since then, if Sam had to drink Bill’s blood, does that mean he’s going to become attracted to Bill as well? Is it only older vampire’s blood that does that to people (like how both Sookie and Lafeyette drank Eric’s blood and both feel a slight attraction to him)?
What happens in the books, or does the Maryann thing even happen in the books?
(I’m ashamed for not reading them yet T.T)

It is possible that Sam will have some sort of attraction to Bill or, since Sam is straight and not attracted to men in the first place like Lafayette and Sookie, he will not have any attraction to Bill but rather a more cordial relationship. In the books Sam and Bill don’t like each other, but now they seem to have an unspoken understanding that they did what they did for Sookie. Also, with Sookie and Lafayette it is possible that they were both attracted to Eric before the blood consumption, while Sam has never been attracted to Bill… Although, the age of the vampire might have something to do with it… this might be why Sophie-Anne is having Eric sell her blood (V), as opposed to someone else’s.
The Maryanne thing is much less in the books, and ends really lame. She just leaves town. I like how they killed her in the show, and all of my questions were answered, and some of those answers were for questions that I haven’t even asked!
I recommend the books to everyone, because while they are different from the show you get some good tidbits that make you very giddy. For example, Hadley, Sookie’s cousin, is introduced now in the show, but she doesn’t come along until later in the books, and she has an interesting story. Read ALL the books, even the first two, and then go back and watch season one and two and you will laugh at how many references and inside “jokes” there are when comparing them to the books….
I can’t wait to see how season three turns out… I just hope that they make it to season four, because that is the best book!
Sam being attracted is a possibility. At least there will be a ‘blood tie’ of some sort between sam and bill now which, by the way obligates Sam to ‘Feel for Bill to find where he is now that he is kidnapped. I predict an ‘I saved you life now you save mine plot in season 3′
=================================================
In the book:
The maenad never has a name, never intends to kill Sookie, although she comes very close. Instead she uses her as a messenger to Eric to extort money from him. and that is pretty much what she calls Sookie ‘my little messenger.’
The Maenad attack her knowing full well Sookie and Bill are on their way to Fangtasia, and it is Sookie and Bill not Tara who veer off the road to avoid the wild hog. Sookie, miffed at Bill gets out of the car and is attacked by the Maenad. The doctor knows immediately what has poisoned Sookie and it takes 4 vampires to cure her. Eric, Bill, Pam and Chow. The reason for this is, if any one vampire did it the Maenad poison is so potent it would kill any single vampire. So it took 4. Eric knows immediately what the maenad wants as soon as the doctor informs him it is maenad poison as he had horrific dealings with maenads in the past. Maenads as it turns out are capable of ‘sending out their madness.’ This happened at vampire party Eric attended decades before. A maenad arrived demanding ‘tribute’ the vampires scoffed and she sent her madness out causing the entire room to go crazy and few vampires survived it. Eric chose to pay her what she wanted knowing it would be a matter of time before she just left town and that is exactly what happened.
I strongly recommend the books. They are arguably the most entertaining fictional series I have ever read and I have read A lot of book and series.
In the end she actually inadvertently helps save Sookies life for being such a good little messenger for her.
